The Two Seals

The Two Seals

Last week’s study went deep into the understanding of God’s judgement and what the consequences of each one’s decision would be. Today’s study goes another step further into understanding ‘The Two Seals”

lesson14-02

1. What is God’s attitude toward believers?
2 Timothy 2:19; Ezekiel 9:3, 4
God holds believers in high regard. There is a clear distinction between those who follow Christ and those who don’t according to the Bible. The Lord knows what’s in each one’s heart, and therefore knows who belongs to Him, and they are marked as a symbol of this belonging.

2. How is this mark described in Revelation 14:1; 22:3,4
The scriptures describe this marking of God’s people to be His name written on their foreheads.

3. When was the sealing message to be given? How are God’s people to be sealed?
Revelation 7:1-3; 14:9-14; Ephesians 4:30
The Sealing Message is relevant for those who live at the End of Time. Angels as we discovered in previous studies, have a range of duties and tasks given to them by God. Here we read that four angels are given power to harm the land and the seas, but another angel has called for them to continue holding back the winds to give time for God’s people to be sealed with the name of Jesus on their foreheads. From this, it is understood that God’s people are being sealed now, and the sealing will be complete when the four winds are released causing the destruction of the land and sea.

4. What constitutes God’s seal?
Ezekiel 20:20; Exodus 31:13, 17
God’s seal or sign – as it also known in Romans 4:11 – is shown by those who keep the Sabbath. Obedience to God’s whole law which includes observance of the true Sabbath is part of that seal.

5. Of what is the Sabbath a memorial?
Exodus 20:8-11; Ezekiel 20:12; Ephesians 2:10; Psalm 51:10
The Sabbath is a memorial of the six-day creation week at the beginning of Earth’s history. In addition to this memorial, is the recognition that the keepers of the Sabbath are those believers who belong to God. For in six days the Lord made the Heavens and the Earth.

6. What are the three essential parts of an official seal?
a) The Lawgiver’s Name: The Lord
b) His Official Title: Creator
c) The Territory under his jurisdiction: Heaven & Earth

7. Where is God’s seal found?
Exodus 20:8-11
God’s seal is found on those who keep the covenant of God’s true Sabbath.

8. What mark will those have who do not have God’s seal?
Revelation 13:16-17
Those without God’s seal will have the seal of the opposing force, Satan. The Bible says this seal will be written in name or number of the name on the forehead or right hand of those who don’t belong to God.

9. What is the mark of the beast?
There are only two marks, the mark of God which seals them as belonging to Him, and the mark of the beast, which is of Satan. This mark of the beast is a counterfeit of God’s true seal, and an attempt to replace that which God has instituted, particularly regarding the Sabbath.

“You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify.” – Cardinal Gibbons in “The Faith of Our Fathers”

“They [The Catholics] allege the Sabbath changed into Sunday, the Lord’s day, contrary to the Decalogue, as it appears; neither is there any example more boasted of than the changing of the Sabbath day. Great, say they, is the power and authority of the church, since it dispensed with one of the Ten Commandments.” – Augsburg Confession, Art XXVIII

10. How many will worship the beast? What will be their fate?
Revelation 13:7-8; 14:9-11; 16:1, 2, 10-11
There will be many people who will be lost because they chose to not worship God, accept and keep the Sabbath and ultimately be without the seal of God. The bible doesn’t give a definitive figure for those people, but their fate will be to surely die. They will suffer immensely from now even, as they bear the consequences of decisions without Christ, and ultimately not choosing God will result in everlasting death.

11. What will be the experience of God’s faithful people?
Revelation 12:17; 14:12; 15:1-3; 22:14
God’s people will face trials and suffering also, but only while they are here on earth. After Jesus returns, they will be safe, singing songs of redemption and worship to God who has conquered sin on their behalf. After all who don’t belong cease to exist and Satan is destroyed for the final time, God’s special and faithful people will live in harmony with God through the gates of heaven eternally, sealed in His eternal love.

Let’s take the time to ensure we are part of God’s seal, and live for Him until He returns to take the faithful home!
